I still can’t believe it, but Marc and me a.k.a. the Globe Rockers are gonna leave Europe again really soon; this time for 3 months.
The destination is INDIA.
We are realizing an old dream of our’s – again.
Although the level of excitement is the same, the way we are preparing for this trip is very different from how we prepared for the big adventure in 2014.
On one hand, because we have become much more experienced travelers: we know exactly what kind of official, health-related and private stuff need to get sorted before taking off; also how much time we need for the specific things. We are much better at packing, too. The Camino de Santiago we did in 2015 taught us a lot about what we really need for a trip: if you carry your luggage all day, you think it over twice before you cram unnecessary stuff into your bags. Thinking back on our 10-month trip in 2014, I don`t understand why we carried around so much useless stuff…good that we still have healthy backs. Life is a never-ending learning process, isn`t it? 🙂
On the other hand, we have changed a lot as human beings and as a couple, too, in the last 2-3 years. I believe there is nothing that deepens relationships better than traveling and going through a series of adventures together. Of course, it is challenging as well. But along with all those senseless little fights and disputes, you experience the miracle of watching your partner opening up, going through miraculous changes and turning into a better human being; believe me, this is worth the effort and I don’t think such transformations can happen on the sandy beaches of Lido di Jesolo where you spend a week-long vacation in an all-inclusive hotel.
Also, this trip to India has a much bigger purpose than just getting away from our everyday life for a couple of months. This time we would like to STUDY. This huge and culturally so diverse country is full of ancient knowledge and wisdom and I am so looking forward to getting indulged in its magic. Marc is going to do another yoga TTC – maybe two -, while I am planning to take courses in the ancient tradition of Ayurveda. Of course, along with the courses we are are gonna find the time to explore the beauties of India as well, and optionally a trip back to Thailand and/or a discovery journey to Sri Lanka are also parts of our plans.
We are both so excited about this trip. At the same time, we have huge respect (you can call it fear if you want) towards the big unknown, which makes the whole adventure even more attractive. I can’t wait to be there and open up my heart to this – now completely unknown – country, to become part of the culture, to internalize and get intimately familiar with things I do not even know today, to discover new flavors and scents, to meet interesting people,…etc.
I am aware of the fact that we are going to face a lot of difficulties and need to solve several problems during those months, but I am also 100% sure that together we can cope with much more than either of us would expect and after 3 months we will return back home wiser and open-minded, full of inspiration and ready for an even more beautiful life.
